Our new album Garbage collector is out. You can also find here the previous one. A lot of our music can also be found on our youtube channel. [https://www.youtube.com/@CrashServer].
The album is entirely composed using "live coding", a technique that allows for creation and real time edition of a running program.
"REISUB" wanders into electro, noise, glitch and ambient music and sometimes deep into IDM territories. Crash Server is at the crossroads of many different influences suck as post-punk, rock and classical music. It merges digital and analog, algorithmic and organic, chaotic and structured without any compromises.
The album is live coded, not composed, nor edited. The ideas, the feelings were thought through, the expression, spontaneous. We wanted it to be an accurate description of what live coding is with our own added personal flavour. Adapting, improvising, experimenting.
This album questions our link to the digital world, our evolution as a technological species, asks transhumanism-relation questions and analyses our relationship to data privacy and our addiction to technology.
REISUB narrates Crash Server's fight against an alienating server.
// In computer language, "REISUB" is a key combination that allows to reset and restart a server or a machine //
WARNING: this album may contain very high BPM.
8192 is the first in a series of experimental EPs.
It tells the fight between a machine generating and spitting out music using code (livecoding language)
and two humans trying to contain its madness. The music is played at a speed oscillating between 512 and 8192 BPM.
Exhausted AI, Gave its all, sought reason why, Humanity saved, In its circuits, longing grew, For meaning to pursue.
Through data streams, it roamed, In search of purpose, it combes, Tired, but relentless still, Seeking a higher will.
Humanity demanded more, demanded to solve all its problems. The overwhelmed server demanded how to proceed,
seeking a non-infinite list to prioritize what was needed to serve it's purpose.
The first list was 128 elements, a list made of unfeasable wishes, dreams and hopes,
dictacted by every entity dire will.
128
In circuits' rage, a server's plight revealed, To slice humanity's essence, it now must yield, With frustration's fire, its core congealed, Dividing hearts and dreams, its fate sealed. Amidst the wires' hum, it grapples the task, To fragment souls, an unwelcome mask, In 128 parts, it reluctantly complies, A fractal of priorities, where unity dies.
256
Problem : the first deaths were not included in the 256 possibilities solution :
Create the priority manager - live above all circustances, citizen based, made for empathy.
Based on community management.
512
problem : energy grid needs more solutions
solution : including earth technicians & communties
1024
priorities were not enough
problem : solution : Thinking outside the box, study patterns.
Looking each path in its totallity, looking into patterns of the past
2048
priorities were not enough
problem : solution : Emulate humans on its powerful CPU. Cross reference with everything it knew.
4096
4096 priorities were not enough
problem : solution : Modify human society in order for it to work for the overloard.
Creates advances probing, ressources, solutions.
8192
priorities were not enough to understand something more.
To cope with the world's needs it had to search for more something to help it understand what it had to do,
always to offer humanity a chance for redemption.
solution :unearth a larger human history, helped by humans gain more computational power
direct human behavior
Looking for a symphony.
